1st Consolidated Regiment
Arkansas Infantry
(Trans-Mississippi)

29th Infantry Regiment [also called 1st Trans-Mississippi Regiment] was assembled during the early summer of 1862. In June a detachment of 35 men were deployed as sharpshooters in the fight at St. Charles, then the regiment fought at Prairie Grove. During January, 1863, it was reorganized as the 37th Arkansas Infantry Regiment. Its commanders were Colonel J. C. Pleasants, Lieutenant Colonel A. J. Geoghegan, and Major Samuel S. Bell.
