8th Infantry Battalion
8th Infantry Battalion, formerly the 2nd Foreign
Battalion Infantry, was organized during the late fall of 1864
with English and French nationals. The unit was assigned to the
Department of North Carolina and Southern Virginia and for a time
served at Charlotte, North Carolina. It was included in the surrender
on April 26, 1865. Lieutenant Colonel Garnett Andrews and Major
R. I Fouche were in command.
