This regiment was successively designated the 26th Regiment (Lamar's), Georgia Infantry, 7th Battalion Georgia Infantry and 61st Regiment Georgia Infantry. A. number of names added to this roll by members of company do not appear on original rolls, and no service record has been found for them.

Company A, 7th Battalion Georgia Infantry was mustered into Confederate service at the Junction on Augusta and Savannah R. R. August 1861. Went to Savannah, Georgia, and from Savannah to Brunswick, Georgia, then to Jekyll Island, then was ordered to Camp Bethesda below Savannah, from there to Virginia and became Company A, 61st Regiment Georgia Infantry.

Bass, John Columbus -- 3rd Corporal - August 27, 1861. Appointed Sergeant. Captured in Richmond, Virginia, hospital April 3, 1865. Sent to Provost Marshal April 28, 1865. In Jackson Hospital at Richmond, Virginia, May 28, 1865.

Branch, David -- Private - August 27, 1861. Wounded in left leg and knee, right arm permanently disabled, and captured at Sharpsburg, Maryland, September 17, 1862. Roll for March April 1863, shows he was "Exchanged and retaken on the road March 19, 1863." Pension records show he was at home on wounded furlough close of war.
