7th (Caldwell's) Infantry Regiment


7th (Caldwell's) Infantry Regiment was formed by consolidating the 1st and 2nd Northeast Missouri Cavalry Regiments in April, 1863. The unit was assigned to General Parson's Brigade, Trans?Mississippi Department, an was active at Helena where it lost 17 killed, 126 wounded, and 54 missing. On July 6, 1863, it contained 325 effectives and later merged into the 16th Missouri Regiment. Its commanders were Colonels Josiah H. Caldwell and Cyrus Franklin, and Major Elliott D. Major.
