1st Cavalry Regiment Arizona Brigade

1st Cavalry Regiment Arizona Brigade was organized with about 800 men during the fall of 1861 using Hardeman's Battalion as its nucleus. For a time it served in the Army of New Mexico, then was assigned to the Trans-Mississippi Department. The unit confronted the federals in Texas and Louisiana and was included in the surrender on June 2, 1865. The field officers were Colonels William P. Hardeman and Peter Hardeman, Lieutenant Colonel Edward Riordan and Majors Michael Looscan and Alexander W. Terrell.
