A bad Injury suffered by a fall from his horse during the Battle of Brandy station on 6/9/63 resulted in paraplegia, spinal pain and partial paralysis. McCormick was absent from the time of the injury forward, and finally retired to the Invalid Corps, 9/9/64. Paroled at Burkeville Junction, 4/20/65.

McCRACKEN, MICHAEL: enl. 4/5/62 in Co. E. Detailed as ambulance driver, and present as such, thru May 1863. Dropped from the rolls on 6/1/63, having taken a mail contract. Saloon keeper. Murdered by his son, 2/20/1891 in Fredericksburg.

 MURPHY, JOHN N.: b. 9/15/1837. enl. 6/25/61 in Co. C. Elected Lt. on 7/5/61 and to Capt. on 11/26/61. Absent sick, July. Oct. 1862. Resigned due to ill health (chronic diarrhea) on 11/1/62. in 1863 Murphy applied for the position of Judge Advocate of the Cavalry Corps Court. in 1864 he sought the command of a cavalry battalion being formed. He later served as Lt., Co. G, 43rd Va. Cav. Bn. d. 2/12/1897. bur. Yeocomico Church, Westmoreland Co.

 MURRAY, JOHN H.: The only record on this man is a rather peculiar Federal document stating that he resided in Wheeling and was captured at Petersburg, 4/24/65, and released on oath on 5/30/65.
