Field & Staff
9th Infantry Battalion was organized in June 1861, with four companies. The unit served in the Army of the Northwest and fought at the Greenbrier River and Camp Alleghany where it lost 4 killed, 11 wounded, and 13 missing. During the spring of 1862 it merged into the 25th Regiment Virginia Infantry. Lieutenant Colonel George W. Hansbrough and Major G. D. Camden, Jr. were in command.
