92nd Regiment Infantry

Failed to complete organization. Enlisted men merged into 93rd Indiana Infantry.

The Ninety-Second Regiment was ordered to be recruited from the Second Congressional District, under the call of July, 1862, and its place of rendezvous fixed at New Albany.  The attempt to recruit a sufficient number of men to form a regiment was, however, unsuccessful, and the companies recruited for the Ninety-Second Regiment were merged into and consolidated with the Ninety-Third Regiment, then organizing in the Third Congressional District, and rendezvousing at Madison.  Four companies were thus transferred to the Ninety-Third Regiment, and served with that organization until its muster out at Memphis, Tennessee, on the 10 of August 1865.
