Organized at Pittsburgh by Captain Maurice Wallace, and known as the "McCullough Guards."; Enrollment dated August 6, 1861. Mustered into the United States service near Washington City, D. C., October 9, 1861, with a full complement of men. Captain Wallace being promoted to major of the regiment, First Lieutenant C. B. McCullough was made captain of the company; Second Lieutenant H. P. Fulton, first lieutenant; and Orderly Sergeant W. H. Jeffries, second lieutenant.
