GARNER, Robert L. (enlisted, aged 19; discharged for disability, July 62 )
GARNER, Vincent B. (enlisted, aged 21; died of disease, Feb 63 )
GARNER, William H..... Vincent was present at the Battles of Cross Keys, Malvern Hill, Cedar Mountain, 2nd Manassas, Sharpsburg, and Fredericksburg-that fight was in December 1862. As with many other soldiers, he died of disease on 11 February 1863 at Hamilton's Crossing, Virginia.
Piecing together William's service, he does not seem to appear in the records of the 15th Alabama, though he indeed probably did serve in Company A alongside other Garner family members. One William H. Garner, Talladega Camp of Instruction, does appear, while some information says he seems to have died on 30 August 1861 at Sangster's Crossroads, Virginia. For many soldiers who served, no records or paperwork exist. After the war, many soldiers had to rely on sworn affidavits by fellow soldiers to prove that they had served.
