CALAWAY, William M. A single farmer, he enlisted on 3 July 1861. Calaway was wounded on 27 June 1862 at the Battle of Gaines Mill, Virginia. He was wounded and captured at the Battle of Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862. After he was paroled he was present for Gettysburg and other major battles; he survived the war, surrendering at Appomattox.
